Graduate & Post-Bacc Programs

Agnes Scott is highly regarded for its intellectual rigor and you’ll enjoy small classes with personalized attention from distinguished faculty. Our total student body is small (slightly less than 1,000) yet diverse (from 30 countries). And our vibrant, 100-acre wooded campus, located within one of Atlanta's historic neighborhoods, is just minutes from the cultural, entertainment and recreational attractions of an international city.

Pursue your Master of Arts in Teaching
Advance Your Career at a Prestigious College

With Agnes Scott’s century-old history of teacher training, our master of arts in teaching (M.A.T.) program will immerse you in your fields, sensitize you to cultural influences and learning abilities, and provide you with the tools and techniques to engage and inspire students.

Our full-time 12-month program begins in the summer and ends the following spring. It will provide you with public school field experience, including a 12-week, full-time student-teaching internship during the last semester. You may also pursue an M.A.T. degree while teaching with provisional certification.

Do you have an undergraduate major that is similar to, but different from one of our M.A.T. teaching areas, requiring you to take additional coursework before applying to our program? For example, you may be an engineer wanting to teach physics or mathematics. Or, you may have a background in journalism or theater, and want to teach English. Current teachers seeking to earn Professional Learning Units can also choose the graduate scholar option.

If you would like to email or phone one of our recent graduates, of if you have any questions about the M.A.T. program, please contact Doug Talbott, graduate studies program coordinator, at 404 471-5168 or 800 868-8602 ext. 5394.

Complete the Requirements for Medical School Admission

Our post-baccalaureate pre-medical program will prepare you for a career as a physician.

Are you a career-changer who wants to pursue medical school but has no training in the sciences? Are you a college undergraduate who has decided on medical school—and it’s too late to change your major? Our program is designed for non-science majors who can take the required pre-med courses in a challenging program that prepares them for the rigor of medical school. Our small class sizes and accessible faculty provide an enriching, stimulating program in which you can take this journey with people who are experiencing the same challenges.

Our post-bacc pre-med cohorts are a lively mix of new graduates, seasoned career people, and everything in between. Recently we’ve admitted attorneys, individuals with doctorates, ordained ministers, and several recent graduates with majors that span the social sciences and humanities.

We welcome a very diverse group of both men and women into our program.
Please read more about our program and see our FAQ page. If you have additional questions, send them to post-bacc@agnesscott.edu.
